Mrs Betty Bowers: Less is Mormon!
>> ^dystopianfuturetoday:
>> ^campionidelmondo:
The bible is just as far fetched imo and just because it's older doesn't make it any more believable.

It's not the age, it's the volume. Mormons believe their own far fetched stuff ON TOP of all the traditional far fetched stuff in the Bible, so yes, from an empirical standpoint they are crazier. Like clothing, many layers of crazy will insulate you from the cold atheist winter that is the internet.

I'm not sure that the -quantity- of delusions is the correct way to compare relative insanity. Once you've lost touch with reality, you're insane...anything after that is pretty much irrelevant.

Couple Arrested for Not Paying Tip
It's really not that difficult...I don't patronize restaurants that automatically add a gratuity. I don't give a -damn- what the party size is...that's simply not their call to make. Or rather, it may be, but I don't have to spend -my- money there.

Zero Punctuation: Dragon Age: Origins
I'll pipe in too, even though I can't listen to the zero-punctuation reviews (FYI, I'm -not- going to work that hard to understand what you're trying to tell me).

Dragon Age is, as virtually everyone agrees, a wonderfully polished example of the genre. I absolutely love it, and at the same time I'm finding that my gaming tastes have apparently changed. It didn't take long to learn that the game has that terrible ability to suck you in, and make you forget about the time. And nowadays, unlike all the rest of my life, I find the idea of getting lost in the game for a minimum of 3-4 hours at a sitting to be, well...intimidating.

I used to play games like any hardcore gamer does...6-8 hours at a stretch for a decent game, and 10-12 for the exceptional ones (as life's schedule allowed). But now...even though my schedule doesn't really stop me from playing for big chunks, it's just not my preferred arrangement. I like to play for an hour or so, and then do something different for a while. I suppose I'm finally growing out of my 20-year-long hardcore gamer phase. What a pity. Especially when I finally have a wife that understands gaming, and isn't bothered by my habits. LOL

I do swear that I'm going to push myself to break through this intimidation for this game, though...it's just that good.

Rachel Maddow: Buyer's Remorse
I -do- believe his claim that his core beliefs don't change. He's always believed in selling influence, and sees nothing wrong with it...that much is clear.

For that reason alone, and completely ignoring the fact that the rest of his record only supports this conclusion, in no way should he be allowed into a position of power.

Hannity: Jon Stewart Was Right
This is not "error", this is flat-out lying and fakery by the very people who purpose to be reporting the facts.

There is simply no way that the claim that this was a mistake is believable.

And why should it be? Fox has gone to court over their right not only to lie, but to fire any employee who objects to those lies. And won. I think that says more than enough to convict them.

Hannity: Jon Stewart Was Right
Yeah, cause there's no dates or locations associated with those particular videos, right?

Actually, you could be correct...Fox may not employ anyone with enough brainpower to figure out how to appropriately label their videos.

Wow! Did I hear him correctly? He's not interested in reporting news...he wants to influence politics? Did he really just say that?

TDS 11/10/09 - Hannity Uses Beck's Protest Footage
I have to admit that I'm a bit confused. Are the people at Fox news so stupid that they don't realize that everything they broadcast is recorded? Or is it that they think everyone else is so stupid that they'd never notice?

I'm not even sure any longer which of the above options would be worse...

I guess social liberals are more likely to fear the ficticious evil of big companies than the actual evil of big governments.

Fictitious? What fuckin' world have -you- been living in?

Union Carbide, Blackwater, Monsanto, Big Tobacco, Enron, Worldcom...just to name a few of the bigger evildoers out there. There are, of course, literally thousands of other examples.

Colbert: Better Know A District - Mike Castle
Balls of steel, that's what Castle has. He's a really good sport, and more than held his own here. You see, it -is- possible for a Republican to be reasonable and even funny! It's just the other 99% of them that give these guys a bad name.

Rachel Maddow: Health Reform Bill Restricts Abortion Cover
>> ^rychan:
Christ, Democrats, get over it. Stop whining about slippery slopes. You can't even acknowledge that abortion is controversial? You can't realize that some people find it absolutely repugnant that their money is paying to abort babies?

OTOH, -I- find it absolutely repugnant that my money is paying to provide services to churches, but every time they call the police or fire department, it happens.

As long as it's legal, and especially when there was -already- language in the bill to ensure that no government funds were paying for abortion coverage, then there is no reason for any such absolute block. Notice, by the language of this amendment, nobody who is -paying- for the public option (which is supposed to be fully funded by premiums, just like private insurance) can buy -any- insurance that covers abortion...not even with their own money. How is that appropriate?

Frankly, this strikes me as yet another case of conservatives hijacking one issue to serve another purpose, precisely like using 9/11 as an excuse to invade Iraq.
